Mama Elephant - Hello Pandas

Today is the last day for the Mama Elephant Color Challenge, so I saved the best for last. This is my favorite card I think I have ever made, so I thought it would be a great way to end the challenge.

I knew I wanted to play with the Mini Distress Inks Cubes again. This time, I used Peacock Feathers, Broken China and Evergreen Bough. I put swatches of these on my craft mat, misted them, placed a piece of watercolor paper in in, and kept repeating the process (heat setting in between) until I was happy. After it was completely dry, I cut out a speech bubble using Speech Trio Creative Cut dies.

I knew I wanted dimension, so I cut the Hello Script Creative Cut out of Neenah Solar White cardstock six times. I glued them on top of each other, using Tombow Mono Multi Glue, creating a thick die cut. This would give me the dimension I wanted, without having to cut up tiny foam squares. :)

I liked that look so much, I repeated it with the pandas. I stamped two of the large pandas from Pandamonium and die-cut them using the coordinating Pandamonium Creative Cuts. I cut five more of each design out of Neena Solar White, and glued them in a stack, the same way as the hello cut.

After assembling the card, it was missing something...so using the scraps of the watercolor paper from the speech bubble, I cut out two Dainty Bows and created a bow time for the boy and a hair bow for the girl  (I did end up cutting the tails on the girl's bow, so they wouldn't get in her eyes.)

Too cute!

Mama Elephant - Thanks

I have enjoyed the Mama Elephant Color Challenge, and have loved all the cards I have created. I have two more cards created for the challenge. The first is below.

I recently got all the Distress Ink Mini Cubes. I've been wanting to try Distress Inks, but never have gotten any, because I knew if I got one color, I would want them all. The Mini Cubes were the perfect solution. I could get a lot of colors with a smaller investment.

Using Versamark, I stamped the Thanks greeting with heart accent from the Mama Elephant Stitches stamp set, on watercolor paper. I heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I got out my Ranger Craft Mat, and laid out patches of color on the mat, in Broken China, Peacock Feathers and Scattered Straw. I misted the ink with water, and then dipped my stamped paper into it. I repeated this several times (heat setting between), until I was happy with the results.

I knew I wanted it to be a shaker card, but didn't want a plain front, so I went through my cardstock and found the perfect sheet. The B Side of the PrintShop Framed, by Studio Calico was absolutely perfect...it had the right colors, the appearance of stitched lines, and an awesome greeting. :)

After assembling the card, I wanted something extra, to fill the white space. I stamped one of the spools on a sheet of Woodland Whimsy (also from the Studio Calico Printshop collection). I wrapped it with some of my hand-dyed twine and attached it to the card with foam adhesive and some dabs of Glossy Accents to keep the twine in place.

I absolutely adore this card. I can't want for the perfect occasion to mail it to someone!

Mama Elephant - Warm Welcome

One more...for another for the Mama Elephant Color Challenge. :)

I wanted to try a baby card...and I just got both the Nursery Deco and Cup Of Wishes stamps sets...so I decided to combine them for my card. For my base, I used a sheet of Hero Arts Layering Paper in a beautiful blue, cut the large scalloped frame from the Femme Frames Creative Cuts out of Neenah Solar White, and then placed the stitched frame from the same set on top, cut from another sheet of Hero Arts Layering Paper, this time in green.

I stamped and Copic colored the giraffe (from Nursery Deco) and the teacup (from Cup of Wishes). After fussy cutting both of them, I started to put them on the card...but it needed something to ground the cup. I found a strip of white lace tape (origin unknown) and it made the perfect tablecloth!

I then assembled the card and stamped the awesome sentiment from the Cup of Wishes set.

So cute. This may be my second favorite card I've ever created (my absolute favorite will be posted tomorrow!)

Mama Elephant - Wishing You Happiness

Back again...for another for the Mama Elephant Color Challenge. :)

One of my favorite stamps is the So Breezy set. Since there aren't any coordinating dies (yet...I hope there will be), I fussy cut the girl silouette after stamping. I wanted to make a scene with her and her butterfly kite (stamped in Ocean Creative Color Pigment Ink, but I couldn't figure out how. Then, it hit me...make a Polaroid! I used the stitched frame from the Femme Frames Creative Cuts to make the frame. For the inside image portion, I used the small scalloped frame from the Type It Creative Cuts. I layered the hill and cloud cutouts from the Landscape Trio Creative Cuts to make the background for the photo.

After I placed the girl silhouette in the scene, I attached her butterfly kite with a foam square, and looped a piece of twine, so she could fly her kite. I layered the Polaroid image on top of the large scalloped frame from the Femme Frames Creative Cuts, and then attached it to my card base.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment from the So Breezy stamp set in Versamark and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

Mama Elephant: Many Thanks

Last card for the night...another card for the Mama Elephant Color Challenge. :)

I've been wanting to use the Origami stamp set, so I decided to let them be the focal point of this card. I colored the crane and swan images, cut them out with the Coordinating Origami Creative Cuts. I wanted to pull in the gold color of the scoop in the inspiration photo, so I thought the swans would be pretty colored gold...and I was right. I love how they turned out!

I used the cloud pattern paper Atlas from Studio Calico as the backdrop for the cranes, but I wanted some unique water...so I pulled the Studio Calico exclusive Dots and Loops (from the May 2013 Planetarium Scrapbook kit). This is one of my favorite papers. I cut along the waves and tucked the swans behind them. I love how they look like they are actually swimming in the water!

Finally, for the sentiment, I wanted to keep it simple, so I stamped the banner from Many Thanks with Winter Creative Color Pigment Ink and cut it out. I do this of the four cards I've posted so far for the Mama Elephant challenge, this one is my favorite.

I have more even more cards I've made using the inspiration photo, so I'll be posting more over the next few days.

Mama Elephant: And though she be little, she is fierce

Back with yet another card for the Mama Elephant Color Challenge. :)

My third card is using the tiny dinosaur from the Just Hatched stamp set and Coordinating Cuts from Mama Elephant. I love this little one...so adorable and so much fun to color. I stamped and cut out one of the cute eggshells, using Winter Creative Color Pigment Ink.

I cut a mountain of white fluffy clouds with the Landscape Trio Creative Cuts (I love those clouds!). I wanted patterned hills, so I cut the hills out of Pavillon patterned paper from Kesi'art, using the Landscape Trio Creative Cuts. I also cut the grass from the Just Hatched Coordinating Cut in the same paper.

Finally, for the sentiment, I knew when I colored this little girl, I wanted to use this sentiment from the Everyday Greetings. I cut it from Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party paper, and rounded the corners. This sentiment fits this little girl perfectly.

Mama Elephant: You're Wonderful in Every Way

Back with another card for the Mama Elephant Color Challenge.

My second card is using the adorable Just Hatched stamp set and Coordinating Cuts from Mama Elephant. I colored this cutie patootie baby bird with Copics.

I cut a mountain of clouds with the Landscape Trio Creative Cuts and layered Dear Lizzy NEAPOLITAN Silver Lining vellum on top. I love the colored vellum on top of the white stitched clouds.

I used the Wonderful in Every Way greeting from Everyday Greetings but I wanted it to say "You're wonderful in every way", so added the "you're" from the "you're a good egg" from the Just Hatched stamp set.

Finally, I die cut the sentiment from a cloud die from the Simon Says Stamp Talk Bubbles Dies. I love using this speech bubble as a cloud. :)
